Blake & Maddie
“Adoption has always been in our hearts and a part of our plan. After having two biological children, we feel like God has called us to adopt.”
Ages: 34 and 34
Professions: CPA, Business Owner/Stay-at-home Mom
Other Kids: 2
Preferences: African American/Bi-Racial, Either Gender, Newborn up to 2 years of age
How We Met: Our older sisters set us up our senior year of college. We attended two different universities, but they were only about a half hour away from each other, and Blake was so great about making the drive all the time. After only a few weeks into dating we were inseparable. We loved spending every minute together (and we still do)! We spent a lot of time attending college football games, going on bike rides around campus, and going on walks daydreaming about the future we wanted together. We dated for three years before we got engaged and married a year after that.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Blake is fun and charismatic. He is the type of person that after you talk to him for five minutes you feel like you have known him forever. He is an incredible, hands-on father. He’s so playful and loves to wrestle and joke around with the kids. Maddie is such a graceful, yet strong woman. She is not as outgoing as Blake is, but when she speaks it is packed full of heartfelt wisdom and unconditional love. Our family’s busy life runs well because of how organized Maddie is. Our faith is important to us and we always strive to put God at the center of our marriage.
Our Hobbies and Interests: Fitness is a passion for both of us. We love working out together. Blake was a former Division I football player and loves all sports. He has trained in mixed martial arts for over a decade. Maddie enjoys kickboxing and running. When she isn’t working out you will find her reading books or creating new recipes. We live on 5 acres, so we love entertaining and watching our kids and their friends play on our land. We also love to travel as a family. Whether it’s a quick weekend getaway or a week-long trip to the beach, we cherish that quality family time.
Why We Want to Adopt: Adoption has always been in our hearts and a part of our plan. After having two biological children, we feel like God has called us to adopt. We believe the best way for our family to serve God is to selflessly and unconditionally love a child. God has provided our family with a wonderful home and resources to provide security and comfort. Our two children are so excited for a new sibling. They have been praying for this baby and will most likely fight over who gets to hold them first.
