How We Met: Our love story began in 2013 when Brent was stationed at Camp Lejeune with the Marine Corps in Jacksonville, NC. We were both out with friends in Raleigh, NC where I lived and met for the first time that evening. We were instantly attracted to each other. I couldn’t stop thinking about Brent’s sweet smile and the way he made me laugh! (Brent later told me he felt drawn to my big heart!) We began talking and started visiting each other every weekend, boating and kayaking on the water on the coast of NC and going to sporting events and exploring new restaurants in Raleigh. We fell in love and knew that it was meant to be. Soon after we moved to Florida and started our life together here!
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Megan: Brent is just a big, loveable guy! He has more friends than anyone I’ve ever met and he manages to keep them all straight and continues to connect with them. Brent is easy-going and fun, yet driven and ambitious. He is able to juggle it all! I love him because of all of this, but also for being my greatest supporter and always encouraging me and staying positive. He brings light into my world and I’m forever grateful that God brought him into my life! We always laugh because babies and kids LOVE Brent! He is gentle with them and always gives them the sweetest smile. I love watching him connect with his cousins and nieces/nephews. He is playful and kind with them and they are simply drawn to him. I think he will be a gentle Father, yet a disciplinarian as well. He sets high goals for himself and wants his children to set high goals for themselves, even if it’s different from his own! Brent: Megan has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met and is an all-around amazing person. She’s unique because she can be so empathetic toward people which is why I was instantly attracted to her. She has complete devotion for the people that she loves and does everything she can to make them happy. My wife was born to be a mother which is one of the reasons I married her. She’s a pediatric nurse and her whole life has been dedicated to raising and taking care of children. Anytime we are at a family or friends outing with their kids, she always seeks them out and they are instantly drawn to her. I’m sure everyone says that their wife will make the best mother in the world, but in my case I truly believe it and that her calling is to be a mother. The phrase unconditional love doesn’t fully capture the devotion Megan will give to being a mother.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We like to keep our life pretty balanced with a mixture of being very active and also taking time to relax and reconnect with one another. We do our best to keep God and Family at the center of everything. We love to travel and have been so blessed to travel to so many places together. We hope to share this love of travel with a child(ren). We always make an effort to learn about the culture and history of every place we visit. We love being on the water and spend many weekends with family at our family’s river home or visiting some of the local beaches. We are Gator and Lightning Fans and try to go to as many games as we can! We enjoy hiking, fishing (especially deep sea fishing when traveling) and kayaking. We love to take our dog, Major, for walks or golf cart rides around our quiet neighborhood. We love getting together with friends and their children for cookouts or low country boils, but also enjoy just cooking together and having movie nights in. Brent loves to golf and ski, and Megan enjoys yoga and running.
Why We Want to Adopt: We connected early on in our relationship over the fact that we knew we wanted a family and that our dreams were centered around becoming parents. We have so much joy in our home and we can’t wait to share this with little ones. We have struggled with infertility for several years and have tried many treatments without success. It has been an overwhelming journey but adoption has brought us so much hope! We have always had a heart for adoption and can’t think of a better way to grow our family.
