How We Met: We met in the most romantic way: online! We often joke about how a computer program set up our life together but now, in what seems like the blink of an eye, it’s been ten years. It was obvious right away that we shared the same sense of humor (dry sarcasm) that made spending time together easy and fun. We naturally put our marriage first and we’re lucky that it’s a choice we both choose daily.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Doug is laid back and reserved in a group but with close friends, he’s hysterical, dry humored and completely authentic. He’s confident and secure in himself, a great leader. He is happiest sitting by our fire pit telling stories or watching a Bears game. He’s a simple, fun guy. Lindsey is clever, witty and outgoing. Most importantly, she is in tune with other people’s feelings and needs. She is empathetic and a total mama bear. Lindsey is happiest with her family making memories, dancing and laughing.

Our Hobbies and Interests: We are a very active family. Normal life for us involves spending time with friends, school events and family dinners. Weekends, however, are spent throwing get-togethers at our house (usually with our pool) or heading to our lake. We spend a lot of time outside and then, at night, play games, watch movies or tell stories. We have a big table for large gatherings. The lake brings out a sense of calm and fun for our whole family and is tradition. A few times a year, we spend our time traveling. It’s not unusual for us to take on fun adventures and go explore new places together. We both feel like time away together with our family creates amazing memories.

Why We Want to Adopt: We have always known that our family would come together through what we hoped was biological and adopted children. Lindsey was adopted so this has always been a very natural decision. Our family is our everything. Our house is filled with giggles, laughter and just the right amount of sassiness. We play both superheroes and dolls. We watch both Star Wars and princesses. Our house has a great balance to it and we can’t wait to cuddle another baby with love.
