How We Met: Online dating can be like looking for a needle in a haystack so we still can’t believe this is how we met. Ethan’s profile was the only one that mentioned playing hide and seek with his dog Drake so asking who hides was the perfect conversation starter for Kris. We both have pets and love animals so it was only fitting that Drake brought us together. Ethan has become the sous chef that Kris was looking for on her profile. She’ll tackle any recipe no matter how much chopping is involved so cooking goes by much faster with a helper. We still have good laughs about these memories.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Ethan is kind, generous and determined. He set his mind on starting a plumbing company so he worked hard to save until it became possible. Simple things make him happy. Kris is smart, kind and can find something to talk about with anyone. She is a loyal friend and has maintained friendships from her childhood. She is always willing to lend a hand for our families. We are both very committed to our marriage and think that meeting later in life has given us a deeper appreciation of marriage.

Our Hobbies and Interests: We live in our first house and it certainly keeps us busy. Ethan is skilled at home improvement projects so he leads these endeavors while Kris is his sidekick. Neighbors stop by to chat while we weed, cut grass, plant flowers or herbs. Walking our dog is part of our daily routine. We have cats as well so there is always a fur baby giving us unconditional love. The summer is when we ride bikes and play tennis but cooking is a favorite activity we do year-round. Vacationing to new places is how we like to take a break. We can only imagine how much more fun these activities will be with a child.

Why We Want to Adopt: We both love children and have always wanted to be parents. We’ve seen our siblings become parents and love watching our nieces and nephews grow up. This reinforced that we wanted our own little ones. After a miscarriage and unsuccessful attempts at fertility treatments, we knew that adoption was how we would be growing our family. Our home and our hearts are ready for us to become parents.
