How We Met: We were introduced through mutual friends who are also a couple. They just happen to be our closest friends who we have known for a number of years. The first time we met it was under bittersweet circumstances. His best friend’s father had just passed away and it was at the after funeral get together. I walked into the door of the house where the get together was taking place and saw James at the food table. As I walked towards him, he said to me, “Hi, you like Harry Potter” and I said, “Yes I do.” After that, I felt it was love at first sight. We did not get the opportunity to talk for the remainder of that day, but we could not take our eyes off of each other. The sparks flew that entire day and a couple weeks later; we went out on a double date with our friends who introduced us.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other:  James is kind, caring, loving, and respectful. He has a huge heart and a zest for life. He is adventurous and loves to try new things. Rebecca is kind, caring, patient, considerate, and nurturing. She is trustworthy, dependable, reliable, and puts others before herself. Humor is a quality that is important to both of us because life needs to be fun. We both love and support one another in what we choose to do in everyday life.

Our Hobbies and InterestsWe enjoy being an active couple. We go for walking adventures and love to explore and see new places. Biking is another way we like to stay active. We both have our own sense of creativity with James playing the saxophone and Rebecca doing crafting activities including scrapbooking, coloring, lanyard, needlepoint, and crocheting. Traveling is something we both enjoy doing especially to Walt Disney World and Georgia. Walt Disney World is especially important because we got engaged at the Magic Kingdom park and Georgia is where his parents have a second home so we like to spend some time there in the summers. Date nights are super important to us because it is a way for us to stay connected. These usually include walks, going out for dinner, picnics, seeing movies, and cooking at home. They are also a time for us to talk with each other. It is important to take time to focus on us and sustain a healthy relationship and marriage.

Why We Want to Adopt:  We have always wanted to have a family. We began trying to get pregnant without any success from the first year we got married. After three years of many failed attempts and negative pregnancy tests, we made an appointment at a fertility clinic. Rebecca discovered she had ovarian cysts and had them removed. From there, we tried again for another year to conceive but still unsuccessfully. We went back to the gynecologist to have some tests done and found out the reason we could not conceive was because of a condition call Premature Ovarian Failure. The diagnosis was hard to accept. Conceiving on our own was no longer an option for us, but we would not give up our dream of having a family of our own. We discussed our options and decided that adoption was the best route for us to build our family. We are eagerly looking forward to becoming a family.
