How We Met: We met at a church Christmas concert. We went out to eat afterward, and Mac asked me if I had plans for New Year’s Eve, so I knew there would be a second date-haha! He asked me to marry him about a year and a half later in the sanctuary where we had our first date. Six months after our engagement, we were married in that same sanctuary surrounded by our family and friends. We look forward to coming full circle by baptizing a baby at the same altar one day since our faith is such an important part of who we are.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Mac is funny, caring, and is a friend to all who know him. He enjoys meeting new people and is very involved in community, church, and civic organizations and groups. He is going to be a great dad! Marcie is bright, organized and very nurturing. She enjoys making our home warm and inviting and loves spending time with our nieces and nephews. Marcie has a heart of gold, is thoughtful, and has a good sense of humor. We are both very committed to our marriage and are so excited to grow our family through adoption.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We love to travel, to be outdoors riding bikes or playing with our dogs at the park, or spending time with friends and family at the beach and pool. Mac is an avid hunter and loves to play golf. Marcie enjoys gardening, reading, and decorating. We have date nights by going out to dinners and movies, and we also love playing board games with our family and friends. Bowling, miniature golf, boat rides, snorkeling, and hot air balloon rides are a few of the fun adventures we have done together.
Why We Want to Adopt: We have always known that we wanted to adopt. We began talking about adoption before we even met one another and once we learned that the other also wanted to adopt one day, we knew we were a perfect match! Our “plan” was to have a biological child and then adopt, but God had other plans for our journey to parenthood. We underwent three rounds of IVF with no success, so we were confident that we were supposed to adopt. We have so much love to give, and we are eager to be able to share that love with the child(ren) that God has chosen for us.
