How We Met: We met through a mutual friend who went to high school with Andy 20 years ago and they actually dated when they were teens. She suggested I add him on Facebook which I eventually did. A few days later Andy asked me out to dinner, and we hit it off. We were engaged a year and a half later and married another year and a half after that in Jamaica. We will be celebrating our first anniversary this April 2023.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Andy is kind, generous, hardworking, team player, and very family oriented. He is a phenomenal carpenter. Fun fact: He built a house for the owner of Cancer Centers of America. He dresses up as Santa at his family Christmas party and passes out gifts to the children. Amanda is nurturing, fun loving, family oriented and a caregiver both at home and at work. Our relationship is beautiful because we balance each other out. We eat dinners together and are big on not having our phones out during that time so we can give each other undivided attention. We are excited to love a child and instill our best qualities in them.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We enjoy many things together like Sunday drives with our dogs or taking them swimming in the summer. Kayaking, boating, traveling, binge watching tv shows, Friday night date nights, and home projects. When we are not together making memories, Andy’s individual hobbies include golfing, watching football and playing poker, hunting, and spending time at his family cabin in the Upper Peninsula. Amanda enjoys gardening, fishing, concerts, puzzles, some reading, and being a home maker.
Why We Want to Adopt: We knew from day one that we wanted to have children and although we have only been married one year, we have tried several fertility treatments (IUI) before we tied the knot. Instead of pursuing IVF, we feel that adoption is the first choice to create a family. Andy’s cousin was adopted at birth and Amanda’s grandmother was adopted from an orphanage as a child. Adoption is something both our families know well and every single family member immediate, to extended is excited and supportive of us as we walk through this journey.
