How We Met: The first time we met was the night the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series in 2006—we were with friends watching and celebrating! We both worked at our student newspaper and became fast friends; it was so effortless to be with each other. We had similar personalities and interests and found we were passionate about the same things. Eventually, 6 months before Brian graduated, we began dating… just in the nick of time. Then we found ourselves in the midst of a long-distance relationship. Eventually, Brian got a transfer, we moved in together, adopted our pug, got engaged, got married, bought a house and had two beautiful children.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Brian is the kind of person who makes you want to be your best self. He always puts his family first. He’s kind, smart and extremely inclusive, always making sure everyone feels welcome. He always sees the good in everyone. He is an extremely involved father, changing diapers and tucking kids in at night. Alexis is incredible. She is so loving, kind, patient, funny and smart. She’s a total go-getter and incredibly successful. She devotes herself to making sure our kids feel loved, appreciated, noticed and accomplished.
Our Hobbies and Interests: Right now, our family is absolutely our main hobby and interest! We love to hang out together, playing pretend in the basement playroom, pushing the kids on swings in the backyard swing set. We love to go on hikes nearby and spend time outside with neighbors, especially when the weather is warm. We love going to Cardinals and Blues games together, and are lucky enough to take a vacation each year. Alexis also has a monthly book club she’s been hosting for 8 years, and Brian is an avid golfer, he plays in a golf league with his 3 brothers.
Why We Want to Adopt: Adoption has always been the plan to grow our family! We grew up being touched by adoption in many ways, and we’ve known long before we were even married that our family wouldn’t be complete without including adoption. We are blessed with two biological children, and now we are blessed to be able to adopt and welcome someone else into our family.
