How We Met: We met on an online dating site in Washington, D.C. in 2012 and met in person soon after for a day of Thai food, 3D Horror movie, and had some coffee while getting to know each other. We knew that we had a strong connection. John had to move to Wisconsin for work while Carlin got a teaching job in Massachusetts. After a long-distance relationship spanning multiple states, we decided to move together to Rhode Island to start a life together. We married in 2018 in front of our friends and family. We are ready to begin a family with our dog, chickens, and our sassy cat.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: John is caring, funny, and is a dreamer. He puts other people first and will help anyone who needs it. He is creative and inspired by all kinds of art. Carlin is compassionate, patient and kind. He is always willing to meet new people and has a great sense of humor. He loves to get other people together and loves to support his family and community. We both have a commitment to family/friends and understand that laughing, good music, and open communication are the key to a happy life.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We moved to a farm by the ocean to start growing plants and take care of animals. We remodeled the entire house (a lot of it ourselves). We love collecting records and watching all kinds of movies. We enjoy traveling whether it be road trips or flying to new places. We both have an affinity for rollercoasters, hiking, waterparks, running, and biking. In the summer we love to head to the beach and explore the eclectic festivals in Providence. In the winter, we love to ski and snowshoe. John loves to play guitar, draw, and find new music to listen to. Carlin loves to read, garden, and find new projects to work on.
Why We Want to Adopt: We have talked about having children since we first started dating. After researching the possibilities, we realized adoption was the only way we wanted to move forward with starting our family. We are at a time in our lives where we are secure in our home, finances, and careers. We are ready and so excited to open our home and share our lives with a child. We look forward to family outings, sleepovers, traveling together and making memories.
