How We Met: We both attended Mississippi State University and met while Mary was a freshman and David was a sophomore. We were both very involved in the Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry, and we became friends through that ministry. Our relationship began as a friendship, as we had many mutual friends. We spent more and more time together, and we began dating in the fall of 2010. We were engaged in the spring of 2012, and we got married 3 weeks after graduating from college in June 2013.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: David is incredibly intelligent, remembers everything he reads, and appreciates knowledge. He handles complex ideas with ease. He is very funny! He makes me laugh often with silly jokes, tv show references and puns when I least expect them. He helps take care of things around the house and budgets our money. Mary is athletic, kind, and outgoing. She is organized, and she makes friends easily. She also learns new skills quickly! She keeps up with our families’ schedules, and she makes sure that we are organized.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We are a fun family! In our free time, we enjoy playing with our children. We play a lot of baseball and basketball with our son, and our daughter loves to play with baby dolls and dress up clothes. We like to watch college and MLB baseball games, and we also enjoy going to the pool almost every day in the summer. David and Mary both enjoy woodworking and playing tennis. Exercise is a big part of our life, also, and we believe it’s important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We enjoy traveling and letting the children experience new things!
Why We Want to Adopt: We have talked about adoption since we were dating in 2010. We always dreamed of having 2 biological children and 1 adopted child. After struggling with infertility before both of our pregnancies, we are ready to adopt a child to complete our family, rather than going through fertility treatments again. We want to adopt because we love raising children, and we can give another child a safe, happy, healthy home.
