How We Met: We met while doing a service project in college. We were both spending our spring break helping out at a local homeless shelter. We became friends on the trip and got to know each other better on future service project trips and times with mutual friends. While dating, we enjoyed visiting 7-11 for Slurpees, walking at local parks, and playing ping pong. After dating for two years, we got engaged. Our summer wedding was filled with family, friends, and an ice cream sundae bar! We have spent the past almost 15 years falling more in love, living life together, and always enjoying some ice cream!
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Jeff has a heart for helping others; his family, his students, and his athletes. He has a fantastic ability to go with the flow. He is as steady as a rock when problems arise. He just starts figuring out a solution. He is always ready to have fun. Amanda is compassionate and an amazing encourager. When someone is going through a rough time she is there with a meal and a card. She excels at making and writing encouraging cards and notes. Jeff admires her faith and commitment to her daily devotional routine. We both feel blessed to be married to someone who is loving and supportive.
Our Hobbies and Interests: As a couple, we value both our individual time, and time together. On a Saturday, you might find Amanda curled up with a book or tucked away in her office writing or creating cards. She might also do some cooking or spend time with friends. On the other hand, Jeff will probably be found outside working on a project, running, playing disc golf, or maintaining the disc golf course he created at his school. But the day won’t come to a close without time together playing board games, watching movies, heading out for a walk or a drive to watch the sunset. Dinner together each night is a must so that we can share about our day.
Why We Want to Adopt: We have always wanted children, but for whatever reason, that hasn’t happened for us biologically. So, we chose adoption as a way to grow our family. We believe God has a plan for us and adoption is a way for us to make our dream of a family a reality! The idea of having a child to care for and help grow into a person of character excites us!
