How We Met: Sarafina is a midwife, so when Jenn heard about the “most amazing midwife, Sarafina” she knew she had to meet her. Fate would have it, a few months later, Sarafina messaged Jenn on a dating website! They knew they had to meet and immediately connected, smiling, and laughing through the evening.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Jenn is joyful and patient. She exudes it and everyone around her feels it. She is very earnest, and kind and it makes her a great friend, an amazing listener, and the most incredible partner. Sarafina is loyal and hard-working. She is an incredibly supportive partner and parent, encouraging us all to pursue our interests and dreams. Her sense of humor really shines as a parent—our kids think she is the funniest person they know. She is loving and so lovable.
Our Hobbies and Interests: Our family loves adventures. We love traveling and exploring new places. We love trying new restaurants and finding beautiful beaches and hiking trails both near and far. Sarafina loves being in the kitchen—cooking is one of her favorite creative outlets. Jenn loves being outdoors in nature, especially if there is a body of water to swim in! Jenn also has a love for photography that has inspired many traveling adventures across the United States and internationally to Italy, Peru and beyond!
Why We Want to Adopt: We have always wanted to grow our family through adoption. Jenn is an adoptee herself and cannot imagine growing her family in any other way. She knows from her own experience how positive and powerful adoption can be. She didn’t have to convince Sarafina though. Sarafina has dreamt of growing her family through adoption since she was a child. So, when we met, and fell in love, adoption was the only path we considered. Our experience adopting our first child, Nova, and developing an incredible bond and relationship with her birth family, adoption became an even more clear path for our family. An unexpected and absolutely spectacular twist to our story, is our second daughter, Zu’raya joining our forever family after two and a half years of being in foster care. Our relationship with Zu’raya’s birth family is different than Nova’s, yet our love for her birth family grows as we stay connected to them through text messages and emails.
