How We Met: In 2013 mutual friends planned a “progressive dinner”-where each course is served at a different house-the week before Thanksgiving. We were both assigned to dessert. John made a pineapple upside down cake and Bethany made a chocolate birthday cake. The next month John planned a group outing to the Christmas display at the Botanic Garden, hoping to spend time with Bethany again. The week before Christmas John invited Bethany over for dinner and to bake cookies. We have been inseparable ever since! We fell in love between the holidays–from that progressive dinner to our first dressy date on New Year’s Eve–and it gives us an extra reason to love the holiday season.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: John is the kindest, funniest, most thoughtful person I know. He is AMAZING with babies and children! I see it with our nieces and nephews, our friends and neighbors’ kids, and photography clients-he is silly, hilarious and captivating! Bethany goes out of her way to make sure everyone around her is loved, seen, and heard. Having a heart for service, without hesitation, she goes above and beyond to do something special for her friends and family, from making thoughtful craft projects with our nieces and nephews, knitting hats, sending flowers, to taking thousands of professional photos of family and friends over the years.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We spend a lot of time with our family and dear friends, at the beach, and hosting at home. John’s siblings live nearby, and the cousins are happiest together! We host dinner parties, birthday parties and celebrations in our home very often-we love having our nearest and dearest around our 10-person dining table! It is as simple as John making a double batch of chili and toppings and our family and friends stopping by on a Sunday afternoon. Also, John is a talented athlete and musician. There’s much music, dancing and laughter in our home!
Why We Want to Adopt: We LOVE kids. Bethany can’t have a baby. Becoming parents would be our dream come true! Bethany was adopted. We believe she has a special perspective to bring to loving, supporting, and answering questions from an adopted child. If chosen to raise this sweet baby, we promise to honor your sacrifice and this precious gift. We promise to love them with everything we have and to give them every opportunity in life.
