How We Met: We met in college in California when standing in line for bagels one Saturday morning. After a few dates, we were clearly distracting each other from classes and hanging out nonstop. It felt like a perfect match, so we got married soon after in a Disney-like hotel off the coast of San Diego. Our friendship has only deepened through cross-country moves, travels to Israel and South Africa, and movie nights at home with hot chocs. Whether it’s racing in mud obstacle courses or baking treats for holidays, we find ways to combine our interests in healthy living, fitness, and family.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Rosie is my role model. She’s amazingly sweet and loving, and her relationship with her mom is a living example of how close parents and their kids can grow. They travel together on trips with just the two of them, constantly share updates big and small, and challenge each other to live up to their ideals. Rosie dedicated her career to becoming a pediatrician for children with the most medically complex histories. When our own baby was in the hospital for months on end, she spent day after day by his bedside, stepping out only to eat and sleep. I felt like the luckiest man in the world for having gotten to marry her. Every day, Jon inspires me to do my best! One reason I dated him was that I knew he would become an amazing Dad. In addition to being brilliant and rational whenever a decision needs to be made, he is my emotional rock. He listens when my mind is swirling, gives me a hug after a long day, and reminds me how our values add meaning to every challenge. He picks up extra chores and greets me with a smile when I get home. Whenever we visit our toddler nieces and nephews, he has creative engineering activities ready to play with them.
Our Hobbies and Interests: The most important thing in the world to Rosie is her family, including her youngest brother who is adopted. She calls her family all the time and loves planning vacations with them. Some of her favorite activities include trips to Disney, preparing for Disney races with Marvel movies on the treadmill, and listening to all the Disney music classics! Jon loves building, tinkering, and going all-in on projects. In high school, he learned to juggle, and street performed with friends over the summers (on the first day, they made a whopping two dollars… and then one blew away in the wind). One of his dreams is to build with kids a multi-story tree house and a massive ball contraption around the entire house.
Why We Want to Adopt: We are both young and healthy, but we’re carriers of genetic conditions that have a chance of affecting kids we have naturally. Our son, Seffi, was born with one and passed away last year. We tried IVF treatments, but they were not successful. It’s been our dream to have a large family, and we are determined to make that happen. We believe that everything happens for a reason, including this current path to adoption that we know will result in a match meant to be!
