How We Met: We met in New York City where Jonathan was working in finance technology and Kristin was auditioning for musical theater performances. We met online but sparks immediately flew based on mutual love of travel and boating. Early dates were to fancy restaurants and Broadway shows. We took ballroom lessons and performed a choreographed dance at our wedding. Over our joyous and stable marriage, we’ve enjoyed excellent teamwork toward achieving our dreams. We moved to Florida to be closer to family and celebrate each day in a large circle of creative and supportive friends.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Jonathan is kind, thoughtful and patient. He enjoys helping others to achieve their goals and has a marvelous memory for trivia. He is also an amazing navigator and can drive almost anything. Kristin is adventurous, funny, and very family oriented with our parents, siblings and nieces. She makes the world brighter as a musician, performer, and teacher. She enjoys mentoring her students and employees as musicians and teachers. We are both very committed to our marriage and have learned that having a sense of humor is the key to life.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We are a very active family. We love to travel, explore new places, and experience new adventures. Watersports (boating, swimming, and beaching) are a major part of our lives. In the past, we had a blast as foster parents and enjoyed basketball, climbing gyms, playing board games, watching movies together, writing and performing skits, and preparing artistic cookies and pancakes. We are also an active aunt and uncle to our nieces (8 and 5 years old) and take them to parks and boating. We’re also teaching them to sing and play the ukulele. Kristin teaches music to children of all ages, is CPR certified, and has taught swimming skills. Jonathan has volunteered as a camping chaperone and is active in the local crafting community.
Why We Want to Adopt: We have been trying to grow our family for 11 years; we didn’t realize as younger adults that it would be so very difficult for us to do so. Knowing we would want to support a future child(ren) in all ways, we waited until after we had finished our Masters’ degrees and seen a bit of the world. We are each very active in our nieces lives and other children that Kristin has taught, and Jonathan has volunteered with. All these experiences make us truly believe we would both be great parents. We look forward to our adoption journey and we cannot wait to have a child to share our lives with and make memories with.
