How We Met: We were set up by a mutual friend when we were both new in town. Keenan had just graduated from college and moved to Florida. Ali had become a travel nurse and was starting her first assignment at a hospital in the same town. We hit it off right away, and as we got to know each other, things really moved fast. With Ali being a travel nurse, we knew our time together in Orlando had an expiration date, so we had to evaluate our relationship. Ali’s goal with travel nursing was to meet new people and experience life through travel; and she did. She met someone and fell in love. We have been together for seven wonderful years; three years dating before getting engaged, and now have been married for four years.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Keenan makes me feel so safe and loved. I know I can always be my true self when I am with him. He is very patient and understanding; he helps me see the bigger picture in life and helps keep me grounded. He has such a loving and open heart. He truly accepts everyone for who they are and embraces all the wonderful things about them. What I truly admire about my wife, Ali, is how caring and compassionate she is, not only in her everyday life, but also at her job as a nurse. Her smile is always shining and brightening an entire room. I love her sense of humor and her strong will. Most importantly, I love her strength and intensity, always fighting for something she truly believes in.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We like to spend time together doing activities such as indoor rock climbing, playing TopGolf, kayaking down the river, going on hikes with our dogs, going to sporting events and traveling. We love traveling and learning the history of the areas we visit, either domestically or internationally. When it comes to visiting the beach, we love doing all the water activities, such as jet skiing, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and beach games. We really enjoy sports and going to the games, from season football tickets to Auburn University football games to professional events. We are Disney people and love the magic it brings, and we try to visit at least once a year.
Why We Want to Adopt: We are so excited to become parents. When looking deep within ourselves, we think about all the accomplishments we have achieved, the places we have traveled, and the memories we have made together. We want nothing more than to share those experiences with a child. When we imagine life together, we see ourselves with children running around in the backyard chasing our dogs or cooking in the kitchen while dancing to our favorite music. Our decision to adopt has been a few years in the making. It’s been the first time in our lives where we’ve truly felt called by the Lord to do something and it’s been humbling to watch the way He’s worked on our lives to lead us to this point. We have faced some difficulties when it comes to starting a family, but regardless of those circumstances, we have always felt called to adopt.
