How We Met: We met in college while both studying English. We were introduced through mutual friends. Once meeting, we formed a very close connection and began dating. After college, we continued to date and Nathan moved to be near me in Florida, as his home was in New England. After 10 years of dating, and forming a love and bond that proved lasting, we got engaged and married in November of 2014. Throughout the years of living together, and supporting one another through life’s joys, as well as challenges, we continue to complement each other in every way imaginable.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Nathan is kind and intelligent with a good sense of humor. He tends to be introverted but enjoys getting to know people and is always open to learning more about their interests. His love of learning and books is evident in his collections. Susannah is bright, nurturing, and very family orientated. She is very caring and supportive and always willing to help others. She is slightly more outgoing than Nathan and has a heart of gold and is always thinking of others first. We are both very committed to our marriage and place a high importance on family and friends. We have close relationships with our families and feel consistently supported by them.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We love spending time with family and friends, and we enjoy every visit we get with them. We enjoy vacations in our favorite places like Montana over the summer. While on vacation, we love to hike and spend time relaxing with our family, including siblings, parents, niece, and nephews. Playing board games is something we both enjoy and do often, either just the two of us or with friends. We both like to stay active. I make time to go to the gym at least three times a week, while Nathan makes time to exercise and takes walks during his breaks at work. In the evenings you will often find us cooking together or watching a favorite movie or television show. We regularly look forward to gatherings with our closest friends, some of which we have known since college and have stayed connected with.
Why We Want to Adopt: We have known for a while that Susannah is not able to have children naturally. We have explored options and talked about surrogacy but ultimately, we have decided that we would like to grow our family through adoption. As a teacher, Susannah has worked with students who have been adopted, and she grew up with a second cousin who was adopted from Guatemala. We have had so many great experiences with adoption throughout our lives, and now we are both very excited to start our adoption journey with a child!
