How We Met: We met at a road race, crossing the finish line five seconds apart. We were members of the same fitness group and had several opportunities in previous months to meet each other but our paths never crossed until the road race. Once we met, we realized that we had an immediate connection. We had our first date two weeks after the race. We return to the road race every year to celebrate. We continue to enjoy and support each other’s goals. With Trevor’s encouragement, Katy has run two marathons and 15 half marathons, and has launched a consulting business. With Katy’s support, Trevor would go onto complete obstacle course races and pursue advanced computer networking education.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other: Trevor is grounded, calm, and considerate. He loves his family, friends, and enjoys home improvement projects. He single-handedly built a fence for our neighborhood dogs to have a safe place to play. He enjoys sporting events, hiking, and our unique family traditions like Friendsgiving, summer movie nights, and game nights. Katy is smart, driven, and compassionate. She loves to spend time with her nieces, taking care of everyone she meets, and hosting events. Katy gives back to our community, as a 12-year animal rescue volunteer.
Our Hobbies and Interests: We are a very active family. We enjoy new adventures, travelling, and the outdoors. We have explored many of the local hiking trails with our Black Lab, Nessie. Katy is a runner and swimmer often completing road races on the weekends. When not outdoors, Katy is as an avid reader and Trevor enjoys video game streaming. We enjoy cooking a good meal, quiet evenings around the fire in our outdoor fire pit, baking, date nights at the local movie theatre, and playing with our pets.
Why We Want to Adopt: As first-time parents who struggled to conceive, we are excited about adoption as an avenue for us to welcome a child into our lives. Ultimately, our journey to parenthood has strengthened our relationships, our commitment to our future family, and has reinforced how much love we have to give. Adoption is a blessing that allows us to grow as a family.
