How We Met: We met in college while attending the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!). We were both pretty active at UCF and were involved with a campus ministry called Baptist Collegiate Ministries. Amanda was also in the marching band. Having no pior experience with marching band, but thinking it looked like a ton of fun, Zach joined the Marching Knights his last year of college. In the marching band together was really where our relationship began to form. In October of 2013, Zach mustered up the courage to ask Amanda out on a lunch date to QDoba.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other:  Zach fell for Amanda’s good nature and vision for the future and Amanda fell for Zach’s fun demeanor and direct communication. Zach is creative, hard-working, trustworthy, and adventurous. He has the unique ability of completely goofing around and making everyone laugh one minute, to the next minute listening or leading deep heartfelt and serious conversations. Amanda is beautiful, kind, organized, goal-oriented, and hard-working. She seems to always be taking opportunities to make someone feel special. Life together has been so much fun! We aren’t a perfect couple and we don’t have a prefect life, but we enjoy taking challenges head-on as a team.

Our Hobbies and Interests: While it’s hard to beat sitting on the couch and watching TV, we still manage to maintain an active lifestyle outside of our home. We are both very involved at our church and play in the orchestra each week on Sunday mornings. Amanda is a skilled french horn player and Zach plays a mean second trumpet part. We have a lot of shared interests, but we still take time to develop our individual hobbies as well. Zach has been training under one of the best hang gliding instructors in the world and about a year ago was cleared to fly solo. Amanda also enjoys flying, but prefers to keep a roof over her head, by going to cirque classes (think cirque-du-soleil).

Why We Want to Adopt: We have always known that we wanted to have children and have talked a lot about adoption. God has been drawing our hearts towards adoption for a while. As we struggle with fertility, God has been confirming to us that we should be pursuing adoption now. We can’t wait to see how God continues to write our story!
